A Gift Worth Giving this Christmas

Are you still searching for a meaningful Christmas gift for a little one in your life? Allow me to recommend a gift that could benefit an entire family–The Jesus Storybook Bible.

The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones contains a collection of over 40 Bible stories which have been masterfully retold in language that will dazzle the hearts of children. I’ve already purchased a copy for my little niece (ssshhh, don’t tell her!), and I’m confident this book is going to be a blessing both to her and her parents throughout the coming years.

I love the captivating way in which Sally Lloyd-Jones leads up to the story of Creation in her introduction:

You see, the best thing about this Story is–it’s true.

There are lots of stories in the Bible, but all the stories are telling one Big Story. The Story of how God loves his children and comes to rescue them.

It takes the whole Bible to tell this Story. And at the center of the Story, there is a baby. Every Story in the Bible whispers his name. He is like the missing piece in a puzzle–the piece that makes all the other pieces fit together, and suddenly you can see a beautiful picture.

And this is no ordinary baby. This is the Child upon whom everything would depend. This is the Child who would one day–but wait. Our Story starts where all good stories start. Right at the very beginning…

Don’t you just want to keep reading?

The Jesus Storybook Bible is available to purchase on its own or in a deluxe edition which also includes the complete book on audio CDs. The following video contains the audio version of the story of Christ’s birth, accompanied by illustrations from the book. As you will quickly see, everything about this book is truly delightful…

  1. We love this book! We use it for family devotions with the boys. I truly believe that this book is what God used to start convicting Jack (my 4 year old son) about his need for salvation. He got saved within one month of starting this book.
The illustrations are beautiful and the stories are depicted in a captivating way that stays true to the Bible. I look forward to our devotion time with this book.
And the best part is that you can start it again once you finish, since it goes pretty quickly.
I would also recommend this to any family with young children. Thanks for posting!

  2. This storybook is wonderful for kids maybe 3 and up. Our sons got it last Christmas and they and we have thoroughly enjoyed it and been moved by it. it puts the focus of every story on Jesus, even the OT stories you never realized were related!

  3. Thanks for the feedback, everyone! It’s good to know that you have each enjoyed using this book with your family. I really look forward to using it some day in our home as well.

  4. Something I wanted to share, many people at our church who are new Christians, have purchased this storybook bible for themselves! It gave them a nice intro and overview to the bible as a whole, and made them feel not so lost being around more mature Christians. Also having this basic info, helped them when they began to read the Bible because things seemed familiar to them.

    • That’s really good to hear, Kelli. It seems that this book is having quite an impact on a large number of families. I recently passed a copy on to a family that wanted to know how to teach their son about God’s Word, and I’m hoping that they’ll find the JSB to be a helpful resource.

  5. We use this book with our kids too, we love it. We love how every story points back to Christ so that it’s not just a story but a story that has purpose.

  6. Addison will be so excited! I’m glad you told the secret, since I was unsure if we should buy her a copy or not:)
P.S. – as you can see, I am several days behind in reading!
